The GEOSYN consortium gathered in Rivacold in June 2026 for its General Assembly, marking an important moment in the project’s technical development. The meeting brought partners together to review progress on the prototype, exchange updates across the technical work packages, and align on the next steps needed to move the system from design to implementation.

A central focus of the event was the GEOSYN prototype itself, with detailed discussions on the engineering work carried out so far and the remaining tasks required to advance the solution. Partners reviewed the different components of the system, assessed technical choices, and discussed how the prototype can best respond to the project’s ambition of delivering an innovative geothermal solution for industrial heating and cooling.
The agenda combined presentations, technical exchanges, and hands-on moments that helped connect the work done in the project with the real industrial context in which the technology is being developed. The visit to Rivacold’s facilities offered a valuable opportunity to see the prototype environment up close and to discuss the practical aspects of integration, testing, and future validation.

Beyond the formal sessions, the General Assembly also reinforced the value of close collaboration between research and industry partners. GEOSYN partners also had the opportunity to take a tour of the impressive RIVACOLD production plant.

Overall the discussions focused on the best path forward to turn GEOSYN’s concept into a functioning industrial technology and how to raise both awareness and trust in the technology. Developing a prototype of this complexity requires continuous alignment, technical dialogue, and a shared understanding of the operational challenges that come with bringing a new solution to market. The June 2026 General Assembly confirmed that GEOSYN is moving steadily into a more concrete phase where technical refinement, and preparation for validation are becoming increasingly interconnected. With solid progress and a clear roadmap ahead, the consortium continues to build the foundations for a sustainable geothermal solution tailored to industrial needs.
