GEOSYN, GeoS-TECHIS and GEOFLEXHEAT: Joining Forces for a Stronger Geothermal Future
As Europe moves towards climate neutrality, collaboration between projects working on clean energy is more important than ever. That’s why GEOSYN has teamed up with two other Horizon Europe-funded initiatives—GeoS-TECHIS and GEOFLEXHEAT—to form a dynamic Geothermal Cluster.
This partnership brings together three projects with a shared goal: making geothermal energy a real and scalable solution for industrial heating and cooling across Europe. By
coordinating efforts, the projects aim to boost visibility, amplify impact, and accelerate the adoption of geothermal technologies where they’re needed most.
Different Approaches, One Shared Goal
While each project has its own focus, all three are working to make geothermal energy more efficient, flexible, and accessible for industrial use:
GEOSYN is developing an innovative system that combines geothermal steam with heat-driven cooling technologies. It’s designed to be adaptable to different industrial settings and works using only water as the working fluid—making it both efficient and environmentally friendly.
GEOFLEXHEAT is combining advanced components—a heat pipe heat exchanger, a scaling reactor, and a high-temperature heat pump—to improve how geothermal heat is extracted and used. The goal is to make high-temperature geothermal heat more cost-effective for industrial applications.
GeoS-TECHIS is creating a geothermal-based system that pairs a high-temperature heat pump with a cooling unit. It’s designed for industries with medium heating and cooling needs and aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 75% compared to fossil fuels.

Why Work Together?
Collaboration between the projects goes beyond sharing updates—it’s about working side by side to:
• Run joint communication campaigns and events
• Host webinars and technical workshops
• Exchange knowledge and results
• Build a stronger community around industrial geothermal energy
This joined-up approach helps each project reach further, engage more stakeholders, and speed up real-world adoption. At the same time, it creates a stronger voice for geothermal technologies in the broader clean energy conversation.
Looking Ahead
Working together allows GEOSYN, GeoS-TECHIS and GEOFLEXHEAT to go beyond the scope of their individual projects. By sharing expertise and aligning efforts, they’re strengthening the role of geothermal energy in Europe’s clean energy transition— bringing practical, low-carbon heating and cooling solutions closer to industrial use.
This kind of collaboration is exactly what’s needed to move from innovation to implementation—and to make geothermal energy part of Europe’s everyday energy mix.
